PGA Master Professional Gary Alliss highlights common chipping faults among handicap golfers and shows how to make better contact.

How to stop duffing your chip shots

The main reason for topping the ball is because people lean back, trying to scoop the ball up with their wrists.

This makes it very hard to get a clean connection with the ball.

How to play a low punch shot

The most common reason for duffing chip shots is making to big of a back swing and then trying to slow the speed of the club down, which ends up with you hitting the ground first.

To correct this, hold the club at the bottom of the grip to gain more control over the club.

How to grip the driver correctly

Have your weight going forward to hit down on the ball.

To help with a better connection, don’t try to scoop the ball up with your wrists.

Keep them strong.
