Video golf tips: How to get the right putter grip
How can a thick putter grip help you?
Thomas Devine, fitting specialist at Oulton Hall’s PGA Academy, demonstrates how a thick putter grip takes the hands out of the stroke, and quietens down the hands a little.
For example, if you have a stroke with quite a lot of wrist action, it will be very difficult to get the face angle and the loft of the putter consistent at impact. This will give you a lot of inconsistent rolls of the ball.
However, with a thicker grip, it is much easier to keep those wrists quiet – so more consistent shots.
