You might not need a maths degree to work out a scorecard but they still seem to cause countless controversies in club golf.
Missing names, signatures and, occasionally, hole scores, all add up to an administrative headache for those committee members dealing with competitions.
Rule 3.3b (2) lays down some pretty stringent scorecard responsibilities for players around checking and certifying scores. The penalty for getting these wrong is usually disqualification.
And yet…

Golf scorecard rule: Scorecard mistakes
The first clarification says information put in the wrong location on the scorecard might still be acceptable. It reveals there is no penalty if the “correct information is mistakenly entered on the scorecard in a place other than where it was expected to be”.
