This is perfect for players who want something that provides maximum distance and forgiveness in a player inspired package.

  • Fast ball speeds across the face
  • Forgiving on off centre strikes

First Impressions

The re-shaping Titleist has done here is exceptional. The aerodynamics research has led to a completely different head shape and I love the deeper more compact styling. I also love the details they have added such as the rounding in on the toe which was immensely popular in the TSi3 driver.

NCG Verdict

Straight away I was blown away by this driver. I love how Titleist have made the club head more compact, it definitely has more of a player’s feel at address and makes you feel like you are going to be able to get the club head moving fast.

Titleist TSR2 driver review

As it turns out, the re-shaping of the club head has made a massive difference in performance. I gained 3.5 mph of club head speed when moving from the TSi2 to the TSR2. That’s seriously impressive. It also meant I got some lovely carry distance gains.

On average I carried this 239.6 yards, with my longest shot carrying 248.5 yards. How did this stack up to last years TSi2 model? It was about 14 yards longer.

Titleist TSR2 driver review

I was really pleased with this increase in distance in the two model as last year I opted to use the TSi3 model over the TSi2 purely from a ball speed and distance perspective. While this was great purely from a speed point of view it meant I was sacrificing in other areas.

The smaller design had less MOI meaning my off strikes weren’t as good as with the TSi2 and the spin was also quite low.

The TSR2 offers me the best of both worlds and one of the most impressive things was just how consistent my data was throughout testing. Ball speed, carry distance and direction was much more consistent than with my previous TSi3.

This means you can pick the model which best suits your ball flight, forgiveness and spin requirements as there is speed across the board.

Titleist TSR2 driver review

The TSR2 launches the highest in the new TSR driver range, so if you could do with more height and hang time on your shots, this is the perfect option. Despite this, I still had a good land angle, meaning I would get a decent amount of roll out too.

Forgiveness is a huge factor when it comes to picking the right driver, and this has to be one of the most forgiving on the market. The new face technology meant that my ball speed and carry distances stayed high on-off centres strikes which is crucial out on the course if you have hazards such as bunkers to carry.

Overall I was so impressed with this driver in testing, it has gone straight into my golf bag!
