What’s new? How much does it cost? And how does it perform? Jack Backhouse brings you the low down on the new Odyssey AI-One Square 2 Square #7 Putter.
With the rising popularity of zero-torque putters at your home clubs and on tour, it wasn’t going to be long before one of the big players in the putting world jumped on this technology to make it explode.
Odyssey stands out by offering the most successful Tour-proven designs, featuring an Ai-ONE insert to ensure consistent ball speeds across the entire face.
In this Odyssey Ai-One Square 2 Square #7 putter review, I explain the new technology and how it can help you hole more putts – feel free to also take a watch of the YouTube video review above.
Zero torque technology seems to be taking over in golf and Odyssey have released 3 new putters for golfers looking try the technology in familiar shapes.
This #7 putter looks and feels premium, has all the same great technology from the AI-One putter line last year and will help you have less club face rotation in your putting stroke to make more putts.
This putter is going to make waves out on tour and is well worth trying.
Odyssey AI-One Square To Square #7 Putter Review: First Impressions
Odyssey makes brilliant putters; I am not breaking the internet with that statement. But they do know how to design putters and give them sex appeal, so we love pulling the headcover off the flat sick.
Just like last year’s AI-One putters, this screams premium. With the unique navy blue PVD finish, the White-Hot insert, the panlite window to see the aluminum backer on the face, it all looks great.
I love how straight the lines on the #7 look when sat behind the ball. It is a great visual for alignment and also a straight-back stroke path – see image carousel below.
NCG Review
I am fairly sold on this zero torque putting technology and think it is here to stay for a long time. For those who don’t know what it is, it is just a way of weighting the club head so that the putter doesn’t want to twist in your hands like traditional toe hang designs do. These putters want to stay square to the target and not rotate open or closed.
Odyssey have jumped on this following the success of other brands in this space, and with their enormous resources and solid supply chains, I can see them quickly rising to the top of this putter design market.

First of all, it is great to see this technology in a familiar shape. I used a number 7 putter for ages and like the way this sits behind the ball, the lines are great and the putter frames the ball well at address.
Having the shaft sit behind the face does take some getting used to if you have not seen this before, but Odyssey has built-in a shaft lean to the design so your hands start in the right place every time, which is a well-thought-through feature.
This putter falls into the Odyssey AI-One putter lineup as a complement to all the putters already in the design; it features a lightweight steel shaft with Stroke lab weighting, which is counterbalanced with a weight in the butt for a smoother stroke.
I love the feel and sound of the putter face. The AI One insert is designed for more consistent ball speeds so that your missed strikes get closer to the hole, which I really believe does work. We don’t always strike putts center hit, so it makes sense to deal with that.
Over the 3 rounds I used it for, I was pretty happy with my performance and hit some great putts. I initially had a tough time aiming, but this settled down once I properly lined the ball up.
You can feel that the putter doesn’t want to rotate open or closed throughout the stroke, which makes knocking in short putts really easy. This putter is great for golfers who are new to the game and want a putter that promotes better technique and for players who have putted poorly for a while and need to try something new.
The best short putters generally have the smallest amount of face rotation throughout the stroke, so if you want help achieving this, then this is the putter for you.
