The Cobra Grandsport-35 putter is a compelling blend of classic shaping and cutting-edge tech, designed with serious attention to performance details. Cobra’s partnership with LA Golf, along with their unique 3D printing approach, sets this model apart in a crowded putter market. If you’re after a premium putter that feels custom-built for your stroke and isn’t afraid to be different, this one deserves a spot on your shortlist.

Cobra Grandsport-35 Putter Review: First Impressions

At first glance, the Grandsport-35 may look like your standard Anser-style blade, but when I took a closer look the futuristic features became a Bit more clear. The standout feature here is Cobra’s signature 3D printed multi-material construction, which doesn’t just look cool, it also serves a performance purpose too.

By incorporating 3D printed lattice structures within the head, Cobra can redistribute mass more effectively. The result? A lower, forward centre of gravity that boosts stability on both centre and off-centre strikes. That essentially means more forgiveness on imperfect strokes which is an invaluable asset on the greens for most club golfers.

NCG Verdict

The Grandsport-35 is tailored for golfers with an arcing putting stroke, and the plumber’s neck helps deliver that familiar toe hang. I loved the head weight and swing balance, as it feels like you can take it back and let it go with a natural, flowing motion that gives you more confidence.

A notable inclusion is the LA Golf Descending Loft Technology face insert, a forward-thinking feature designed to optimise roll regardless of where on the face you strike the ball. You’ll find that the top of the face is angled down slightly, while the bottom is angled up. I found this helps maintain consistent launch and roll, even if you miss high or low on the face.

The aerospace-grade aluminIum face insert contributes to a firm, solid feel at impact, though not overly harsh. I thought the feel is similar to that of the PXG Blackjack, although I do think the Cobra has a slightly softer touch. The ball roll performance on long putts was excellent and is something that sets it apart from many of its peers.

Underneath the putter, Cobra has included adjustable weight ports, allowing players to fine-tune the feel and balance of the putter to their preference. Combined with the Super Stroke grip and smart shaft integration, it’s clear Cobra didn’t hold back on tech.

One area of mixed feedback was the three-line alignment aid. While it is intended to improve visual guidance for a variety of players, I felt as though the busy design cluttered the look of the head. I’m generally looking for clean lines on the back of a putter. Still, this obviously comes down to personal preference.

Final Verdict

Overall, I think the Cobra Grandsport-35 putter is a genuine contender in the premium putter market, bringing innovation and performance in equal measure. With its blend of adjustability, forgiving design, and technological flair, it offers a lot to golfers looking for a reliable putter.

While the alignment aid may not be for everyone, from my testing it was clear the performance benefits far outweigh the aesthetics for most players.

Callaway Epic Max driver review
Jack Backhouse

A member of the PGA for 13 years, Jack has lived golf for more than half his life. Inspired by Tiger Wood’s winning putt at the 2008 US Open, an obsession began with watching slow motion golf swings on the internet and reading What’s In The Bag articles in magazines.

Not destined for a life behind the desk in a pro shop, Jack has focussed more on coaching, working closely with regional teams in North Yorkshire and helping golfers of all levels on their journey to enjoying playing the game more. Jack has coached many junior golfers into the county teams, and once worked with a player at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

After letting his game fall apart prior to COVID, Jack rediscovered his love for playing golf after joining Silloth Golf Club in 2020 and whipping round the windy, firm links course. Playing regularly with a half set of clubs he has a passion for shot making and developing skill, and claims to have the sharpest 30-100 yard game in the North of England (only because he doesn’t know anyone in the South), and now maintains a +1 handicap at a club much closer to home, Sand Moor GC.

Jack has always tinkered with his equipment, once building his own Frankenstein one length set of clubs after watching Bryson DeChambeau burst onto the scene after winning the US Amateur. He firmly believes in getting custom fit and is happy to debate anyone about blade irons being superior to any other iron category.

Jack loves: playing quickly, 2 ball golf, match play, heathland courses, pencil bags, foursomes, Tiger Wood’s swing 2005-2009.

Jack hates: buggies, unnecessary trees, giving shots, the 7 iron loft debate, graphite shaft lovers weird superiority complex.
