Equipment editor Hannah Holden reviews three putter models in the 2019 Odyssey putter range

Odyssey putter review

What did we think of Odyssey’s latest putter range? We took them out at Leeds Golf Centre to find out. Watch my Odyssey putters review here…

If you’d prefer to read what I have to say about them and for all the details including pricing and release date, head to the next page…

Odyssey putters review: First impressions

Exo Stroke Lab Marxman

Odyssey putter review

Straight away I loved the look of this putter and the way it sat behind the ball. Both the colouring and shape really suited my eye from the get go and I couldn’t wait to get it out on the golf course.

Stroke Lab Seven

Odyssey putter review

This model sits great behind the ball and the new alignment cues make it really easy to set-up square. Another that really suited my eye.

Toulon Stroke Lab Palm Beach

Odyssey putter review

The Odyssey Toulon range looks like a premium product as soon as you take it out of the packaging. The Charcoal Smoke finish is a big winner for me it creates a really stunning putter.

Odyssey putters review: The technology

Exo Stroke Lab Marxman

This range offers maximum forgiveness as the multi-material head designed delivers an incredibly high MOI. The White Hot insert also provides incredible feel and sound off the face. The Marxman is available in both face balanced and toe hang options.

Strokelab Seven

The new Stroke Lab shaft is 40 grams lighter than a traditional steel shaft due to the multi-material design. It is designed to improve tempo and dynamics of players strokes. White Hot microhinge insert provides a smooth roll and great feel. The Seven is available in both face-balanced and toe-hang options.

Toulon Strokelab Palm Beach

The deep diamond mill across the club-face channels vibration for enhanced feel and sound. The Palm Beach model has 53 degrees of toe hang. Each model comes with a Stroke Lab design shaft.

Odyssey putters review: NCG verdict

Odyssey putter review

Exo Stroke Lab Marxman

I found the red lines across the centre of the putter framed the ball really well. I also really liked the continuous white lines running from the front to back of the putter which helped me set up square.

This putter is designed to have high MOI and I found it really did deliver on this front. My off-centre hits still created a consistent roll and didn’t veer too much off line. This was helped by the White Hot Microhinge insert which created a soft roll off the face.

Stroke Lab Seven

This putter includes the White Hot insert providing great feel off the face and a really consistent roll. Overall I was very impressed with how the ball was rolling and it wasn’t an effort to get it up to the hole at all.

There are multiple head shapes in this range, the Seven is great as it has blade-like precision while still offering the stability and forgiveness of a mallet.

The Stroke Lab shaft is new for 2019 and features a new new multi-material design which is 40 grams lighter than a standard putter shaft. The shaft is also slightly stiffer and lower torque, it felt like my stroke was smoother and my timings were more consistent using this stroke.

Weight saving in the shaft meant the putter head can be slightly heavier which I felt helped me control my stroke more effectively.

Toulon Stroke Lab Palm Beach

The diamond milled face was the star of the show in terms of performance. The ball consistently felt and sounded great off the face and gave me loads of confidence over putts.

Generally I probably would not of chose this head shape as I do prefer a slightly larger putter head but this range gives you a wide range of options to suit your stroke and eye. There are also a variety of neck bends available.

The shaping and styling of this head is really attractive, the single alignment line keeps the head simple without compromising on alignment ability.
