NCG SUMMARY
What this fairway wood may lack in ball speed certainly makes up in forgiveness. The Wilson Dynapwr MAX was a delight to hit and felt great. It produced a lovely ball flight and strong distances.
I think this is a great option for a lot of club golfers due to its extreme playability. If its a fairway finder your after, this won’t disappoint.
PROS
- Plenty of forgiveness
- Pleasing high ball flight for attacking the greens
- A versatility wood that can be used off the ground and tee
CONS
- Not as quick as other models
First Impressions
Wilson has gone for a familiar black and red colour scheme on the crown of the club which has been carried over from the previous generation. Not too much has changed in terms of the styling of the new Dynapwr fairway woods from the older models.

Most of the new fairway wood releases for 2025 are finished with a matte black finish but Wilson has opted for a more shiny one. I have to say, it does look good.
NCG Verdict
There is no carbon in the construction of this driver head, it is crafted from titanium. This means it is a slightly cheaper option to the other models in the Wilson Dynapwr range.
However, that doesn’t mean performance or the use of technology has been substituted. Wilson has enabled a thin-cast steel crown to improve distribution in order to position the centre of gravity lower and further back in the club head. This has helped to promote a more stable design than previous generations.
Something to note in comparison to other fairway woods, is that there is no adjustability available to the golfer in the hosel. This acts as a bit of a cost saving exercise to allow Wilson to drop the price to be more budget friendly. It also means that players won’t be able to adapt the lie angle and loft to maximise performance.

However, Wilson has made this club available in both a 5-wood and a 7-wood as well as the standard 3-wood. Golfers have plenty of options to utilise a fairway wood be suited to their game. For example, if the 3-wood has a too low of a ball flight players can switch to a 5-wood.

Throughout testing the club produce a really nice, straight ball flight from decent lunches. For me this club prevent the perfect elevation. It didn’t balloon the ball in the air like some other fairway woods I tested but still exuded enough elevation for a sufficient carry.
Wilson have included a big tungsten weight at the back of the club head to ensure this. A rear weight of 12g ensures golfers can utilise a more forgiving and easier high launch club.
There was also a good amount of spin produced and I was averaging distances of around 240 yards total. This was a good return for me and my game and there is certainly plenty of performance on offer.
Overall, the Wilson Dynapwr MAX fairway wood offers a great value for money option. A really forgiving club that delivers straight ball flights consistently from a playable club. Most of us golfers tend to keep our fairway woods in our bags and can be one of the least used clubs. So, having an easy to hit wood in the bag is a sensible option.
