A brand new driver for just short of £220 seems unheard of in 2026 but that’s exactly what MacGregor has produced.
The Tourney Max is their latest driver model blending cutting-edge performance with exceptional value. It’s deep optimised head shape, maximises the sweet spot for a greater amount of forgiveness.
The adjustable hosel is also a great feature for a value driver.

First Impressions
Driver’s tend to be the most expensive club in a golfer’s bag and so one that comes in just shy of £220 is amazing to start with.
Taking the Tourney Max out of the head cover I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a deeper looking faced driver and looks good when looking down over the head itself.
The Tourney Max Driver is available in 9° and 10.5° lofts, I tested the 10.5°. I was impressed to see that this driver had an hosel as this is something often missed on budget drivers. You can adjust the loft by 2° either way to fine-tune launch conditions and optimise ball flight for your individual swing characteristics.
NCG Review
Putting the Tourney Max driver behind a ball for the first time I was impressed. It looked very inviting to hit, like there was a lot of surface area to go at. MacGregor offers this driver in a senior flex, regular and a stiff flex that I used. In my current Ping driver I have a stiff flex shaft but this one felt like it had a little more flex in it.
My first few shots you could tell that this driver produced more of a higher pitched sound than I’m used to. In terms of shot quality and consistency though I couldn’t knock the MacGregor. Each shot was very consistent, in terms of launch, side and carry.
The technology behind the consistency is to do with the srategically positioned low and deep weights in the clubhead. A lower centre of centre of gravity to promote higher launch angles and increase stability at impact. Whilst I’m not a player who needs help with launch angles this is great for higher handicap golfers who might. The lower COG is also designed to enhance forgiveness across the face, helping with those off-centre strikes.

As the data table below shows my numbers using a Titleist ProV1x on a SkyTrak with both Tourney Driver and my current gamer the Ping G430. Whilst the MacGregor was incredibly consistent in all areas my carry distance were down compared to my usual numbers. On average the MacGregor carried 212 yards, compared to my current 227 yards with the Ping.
NCG Verdict
Overall, I think the MacGregor Tourney driver is an impressive driver for the money. It may not be the longest driver available, but it delivers forgiveness, consistency, and excellent value.
For golfers looking for a new driver that feels premium but costs significantly less than the big-brand options, the Tourney Max is a fantastic choice.
