What did BMW PGA Championship winner Chris Wood have in his bag at Wentworth?

Well the Mizuno staffer relied on a bag full of irons and wedges with a Callaway driver and Odyssey putter.

He also put a Mizuno JPZ EX 3-wood to great use to ensure he found the fairway.

With a record-equalling front nine 29 in the final round on Wentworth’s West Course, Wood held firm on the home stretch to claim victory by one shot (-9) from Swede Rikard Karlberg.

Wood trusted his Mizuno Grain Flow Forged irons and wedges to see him home when the pressure was at its highest.

On the 72nd hole, the par 5 18th, Wood played his MP-T5 sand wedge twice from the fairway to guarantee par and seal the win.

Wood, whose other Tour victories came at the 2013 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and 2015 Lyoness Open, plays Mizuno MP-25 (3 & 4 iron), MP-5 (6-PW), MP-T5 wedges (52, 56, 60) and JPX EZ 3 Wood as well as wearing Mizuno’s range of performance apparel.

At 6ft 6ins Wood is a fair bit taller than the average UK male (5ft 10) but his Mizuno irons are just 3/4 ins longer than standard.

Wood’s irons are built on the Japanese manufacturers famous European Tour workshop – the same set up that tended to 6-time major winner Nick Faldo.

They are all built to 3/4 inch longer than standard with Rifle Flighted 7.0 steel shafts – with the lie angles bent to 3 degrees up from standard.
