NCG Tests: Bushnell Tour V3 laser rangefinder

There is no question that this laser is one of the most reliable and technologically advanced on the market.
Bushnell have long been the market leaders when it comes to lasers so I was really looking forward to getting my hands on the Tour V3.

It displays yardages very quickly and with a great deal of accuracy, and the build quality is second to none. The new rough plastic casing took a bit of getting used to for me.
Yes, it is durable and fits in the hand nicely, but compare it to my existing laser, Bushnell’s Tour Z6, with its luxurious soft rubber coat, and it just wasn’t the same.

What is supposed to set the Z3 apart from the competition is Jolt technology, which vibrates when the laser’s Pinseeker function – prominent on all Bushnell lasers – locks on to the flag.
It’s very useful for improving your trust in a distance when firing at a flag with a busy background, but I can’t honestly say I found it much easier to use than my Tour Z6.
"It displays yardages very quickly and with a great deal of accuracy, and the build quality is second to none." All of Bushnell’s lasers tell you when the flag is locked by displaying an icon, so the vibration merely stops you having to look to the left.
I suppose that the Jolt function is designed to eliminate having to fire at both the pin and the trees behind to work out the right distance, but as an experienced laser user I do that automatically anyway.

Vibrations aside, this is a very reliable and well-made device that performs impeccably.
The fact that it says Bushnell on it is enough for me – it’s a guarantee of quality when it comes to lasers.
There’s also a Slope version available for those wanting a laser to use in practice.
