What’s new about the Titleist Tour Speed?

Titleist Tour Speed golf ball review

The Titleist Tour Speed was first introduced two years ago, now it’s back and better than ever. We take a look at what’s new with the Titleist Tour Speed Golf Ball.

Titleist Tour Speed golf ball review: NCG verdict

I tested the Titleist Tour Speed by collecting shot analysis data on Trackman with my driver, 7 iron and on a 60-yard pitch shot. I was excited to try a ball that could give me extra distance and still have control on shorter shots.

Titleist Tour Speed golf ball review

As soon as I hit the Tour Speed I could feel the springiness off the face, especially on my longer shots. At the same time I felt that it still had a soft feel and was able to move the ball fairly easily from left to right or right to left and perform well.

Comparing the Titleist Tour Speed to my regular Pro V1x golf ball I was getting on average 10 yards extra carry distance with a 7-iron and almost 15 yards with a driver. However, I was getting up to 10 yards of roll out on my 60-yard pitch with lower spin rates than with my regular ball. This was a little disappointing as I felt I was going to still have some control around the greens with the softer feel.

I really like the logo and line on the Tour Speed. The lines around the branding make the alignment aid thicker and easier to line up with the hole without having to draw sharpie markings.

I was really pleased to see that I gained some extra carry distance with this ball and for a lower price point is a great option if you are trying to gain some more yardage out there. Despite the lack of spin compared to other balls the Titleist Tour Speed could be a great alternative, especially in the winter on slower greens.

Titleist Tour Speed golf ball review: The technology

We see a new reformulated core for higher speed and high compression giving you maximum distance on full swing shots. Surrounding this is a proprietary high flex casing layer. This was designed specifically for this golf ball to help reduce long-game spin.

The urethane cover is engineered to deliver exceptional spin for control around the greens. It has a 346 quadrilateral dipyramid dimple design which helps achieve that desired penetrating ball flight for long distance.

Titleist Tour Speed golf ball review: Where it sits in the range

The Pro V1 offers a low trajectory, low long game spin, and soft feel.

The Pro V1x offers a high trajectory, high short game, spin and long distance.

Of the three performance golf balls the AVX offers the lowest flight, lowest spin, and a soft feel.

The Tour Speed offers soft feel, penetrating flight, and exceptional distance.

The Tour Soft gives you distance, feel, and short game control.

The Velocity gives you a high flight with extremely low long game spin.

The TruFeel offers ultra soft feel with superior distance.
