Titleist AVX Golf Ball Review: NCG Summary

NCG SUMMARY
This really is a brilliant golf ball with plenty of performance to offer. Performance that makes it a very credible alternative to the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x.
Around the greens the level of control I was able to exhibit was great. It also continues to excel off the tee as the low spin and flatter ball flight generate phenomenal distance.
PROS
- Exceptional greenside control
- Promotes a penetrating ball flight off the tee
- Excellent stopping power on the greens
CONS
- None
First Impressions
The first thing that stands out about the Titleist 2024 AVX is its sleek appearance. The new dimple pattern is noticeably different from the Pro V1 and Pro V1x and is designed to promote a flatter ball flight of the club face. Another standout feature is the alignment aid on the side, which is looks great and is very functional on the greens.

NCG Review
Around the greens, the AVX impressed me with its tour-level urethane cover. It generated plenty of spin and the numbers I recorded were even comparable to the Pro V1 and Pro V1x. On 50-yard wedge shots, I recorded an average 7,700 RPM, with some shots exceeding 8,100 RPM which is a truly elite level of spin for control around the greens.

With irons, the AVX maintains its lower-spin design while still offering excellent stopping power on the greens. Launch angles remained controlled, and ball speed was consistently higher than models like the Titleist Tour Soft and Velocity. This makes it a great choice for players who want extra distance without losing that quality touch.
The AVX really shined off the tee. During testing it produced ball speeds up to 158 mph, with a low backspin rate of 2,100 RPM, which resulted in a carry distance of 277 yards and a total rollout of 299 yards. The lower spin characteristics mean the ball tended to stay on a more penetrating flight path, which is of course ideal for players looking to maximize distance without excessive ballooning.

All in all then, it’s clear Titleist has continued to deliver with the AVX 2024. It offers exceptional greenside control, low spin for distance, and a flatter, more controlled ball flight. While players who rely heavily on high-spin full shots may prefer the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, the AVX is an excellent choice for those seeking a premium alternative that delivers distance without sacrificing short-game performance. Another 5-star performance from Titleist, proving yet again why they are considered leaders in the golf ball market.
