How useful is the Ping Rolling Travel Cover Review? Whilst on her travels to Spain, Nicola Slater had time to test it out!
We can all sympathise with the annoyance of having to drag your golf clubs through airports. The apprehension of hoping your clubs make the flight in one piece. Well, I took my clubs over to Spain in the Ping rolling travel cover and it made tackling the airports safe and easy.
This rolling travel case from Ping has four wheels on the bottom meaning that it rolls vertically. Six different handles on this travel cases, makes it easy to move, whether that’s pulling, pushing or lifting.
A hard base which continues up the lower part of the case provides extra reinforcement when it’s being handled around the airport.
And, at the end of your trip the bag folds down to 15inch tall to fit in its own storage bag.
Over the last 10 years, I’ve been on many flights with my golf clubs, and I’ve also gone through a fair few travel covers. I have never been as excited to fly with my clubs as I was when I unboxed this Ping golf travel bag.
Firstly, I have never had a flight bag that comes with its own storage bag. I loved that you could tuck the bag into this grey slipcover that comes with its own set of handles. Inside, the bag itself folds up small, standing at only 15 inches.
The part of this flight bag which I was most excited about is the four wheels that it comes with on the bottom. I have been on ten flights this year with a two wheel travel case, and dragging that through an airport alongside a suitcase is very physically straining. Having watched other golfers around me with four wheel travel cases, I couldn’t wait to see how this bag rolled.
Other things to note when first unboxing was the amount of external handles, six to be precise. The more handles the better, making an awkward, large piece of luggage easier to move into cars or at the airport itself.
Ping Rolling Travel Cover Review: NCG Review
A golf travel bag is a serious investment for most, so it’s important to make the right choice. Having kissed a few frogs as some may say, with numerous holes in bags and stitching coming undone, I was ready to put this Ping rolling travel case to the test.

Packing this bag was much different to others that I had previously used. The zip opens up the top of the case allowing you to put your golf bag in vertically. I haven’t had a bag like this before and usually have to have a fight trying to open bags up wide enough on each end to get my clubs in. This was a very positive start.
Inside was a strap with a clip fastening to keep the golf bag in place which is very handy. The front of the travel bag also had a large pocket for any last-minute extras that you might want to throw in.
Packed and ready, the six handles made getting the bag in and out of the car very smooth. Onto the airport, it was time to put the four-wheel base to the test. At first, I wasn’t sure how best to manoeuvre the bag, push or pull? Pulling it with the handle in the mid-section seemed the easiest option. The wheels only move straight, and so I had to consider this when turning. The four-wheel base made standing in a slow-moving queue much easier than my usual airport experience, as I didn’t have to keep picking my clubs up off of the floor every two steps that I took.
Having made it off my flight to Barcelona, all of my clubs were safely intact in the travel case. Most of my travel bags have ended up with holes underneath due to continuous scraping on floors when being pulled. This Ping rolling cover didn’t have a single mark on it after one flight, as the material section never needs to be close to the floor.
Overall, I enjoyed using this flight bag. Having now returned home, I can safely say that this trip was one of the easiest that I have done with golf clubs. The only downside that I found with this flight bag was that there were no internal pockets. This just meant that I had some loose items in the bag, however this wasn’t a huge issue.

Final Thoughts
The Ping rolling travel cover is the most expensive travel bag that I have ever owned or tested, yet it’s the most promising in terms of durability. The thick quality abrasion-resistant material and strong polypropylene base are worth the investment and I have no doubt that the case will stand a much greater test of time than previous cases that I have had.
