When you think of cart bags you often think that they’re big and heavy. The new Corba Ultralight Pro Cart bag offers plenty of storage without breaking the scales. I took it out on the course to see how it performed.

The Cobra Ultralight Pro Cart bag really lives up to its name weighing just over 2kg! Don’t be fooled by this as the bag offers plenty of storage space with 11 pockets and a huge cooling pocket, great for storing your food and drink for the round.

Being lightweight it can easily be moved in and out of a car. It sits really well on a trolley, remaining very stable thanks to the cart pass thru pouch.

Cobra Ultralight Pro Cart Golf Bag review: First Impressions

Taking this bag out of the box I couldn’t believe how light it was. Most cart bags you expect to be big and heavy but as it says by the name, it’s ultralight. It weighs only just over 2kg!

Don’t get me wrong, this is still the same size that you would expect from a cart bag but with soft pockets, it feels a little more workable in terms of fitting it in a car or a locker at the golf club.

Looks wise, I think this is a smart-looking cart bag. I tested the black/white bag which had grey panels on it. I would say this was a fairly plain option but for those golfers who desire a little more colour, the Cobra website offers this bag in six other colourways.

Cobra Ultralight Pro Cart Golf Bag review: NCG Verdict

I really enjoyed taking the bag out on the course. There were so many pockets, twelve to be exact, which allowed for plenty of room to store everything I needed. My particular favourite feature was the cooling pocket which was huge, I could fit my whole forearm in it! This is an insulated pocket meaning that I didn’t have to take a separate lunch bag with me to keep all of my food and beverages cold. As per the Cobra website, it can hold up to nine cans. There are also two water bottle pouches which are of generous size.

Another really handy pocket this bag offers is on the front at the top. It was a magnetic range finder pocket that can be pulled open. I often attach my rangefinder on the side of my golf bag however I found this a convenient alternative and one that is much safer when leaving my golf bag next to the clubhouse unattended.

With that said the valuables pocket is discretely located on the side of the bag, almost blending in – great if you do happen to leave your valuables unattended.

For club storage, there is a 14-way top divider. I’m used to using a stand bag with only four slots and so to start with the extra pockets seemed odd but to a regular cart bag user this wouldn’t seem out of the ordinary.

Out on the course, the bag sat perfectly on my trolley and didn’t move about at all. I’m a member at a hilly golf club and so I’ve had many golf bags that twist and turn throughout the round. The Cobra cart bag has a cart pass-thru slot, meaning that the trolley strap can be fed through to minimise the chance of movement. This was also useful as it meant the trolley strap didn’t cover or interfere in any way making the pockets accessible. This would be the same if you to attach to cart as the cart straps would pass thru to attach the bag.

The umbrella holder on this bag is on the back/side. This placement meant that it didn’t interfere with the trolley.

The Cobra Ultralight Pro Cart bag comes with a long handle on the back so you can carry it over your shoulder when moving it. There is a second smaller strap on the back of the back but for me this would have been more useful on the front of the bag, to make it easier when getting it in and out of the car. Instead, I found myself having to use the hard plastic surround at the top of the bag or using a pocket flap.

On one occasion when out on the course I did get caught in a rain shower. For a none waterproof bag, the Ultralight Pro Cart bag held up quite nicely. I would say that due to its thin fabric makeup, you wouldn’t want to be out there in a heavy downpour but for a one-hole shower it worked well enough.

As lightweight golf bags come, this one is great. Equipped with plenty of apparel pockets, full length dividers, a range finder pocket and a cart strap pass that provides easy access into all pockets this golf cart bag ticks so many boxes and all for just over 2kg! Not only is it one of the lightest cart bags on the market but it’s one of the most reasonably priced.
