PowaKaddy FX7 GPS trolley review

I took the new PowaKaddy FX7 GPS trolley for a spin…

PowaKaddy FX7 GPS trolley review: First impressions

The new PowaKaddy FX Collection is headlined by the new FX7 GPS and you can’t deny it’s a great looking trolley. The whole design from colour scheme down to materials and detailing make this stand out as a high-quality product straight away.

PowaKaddy FX7 GPS trolley review: The technology

Nearly everything on this trolley is controlled by the new touchscreen monitor. Not only can you get distances to the front, middle, and back of each green, it’ll help you try avoid those pesky hazards with distances to bunkers and penalty areas.

The whole FX collection features the new PowaKaddy Lithium 30v Max battery that they’re calling the “Plug’n’Play”. They say it’s the thinnest, lightest and most powerful golf trolley battery on the market, and – here’s the best bit – you don’t even have to take it off to fold the trolley.

It is 20% smaller than the previous PowaKaddy Freeway models giving you more room to manoeuvre your gear in the car boot.

It also has handy additional features such as an electronic scorecard and USB charger. There is also an option for a self-sensing electronic braking system so automatically control speed on slopes.

It’s all rather impressive.

PowaKaddy FX7 GPS trolley review: NCG Verdict

What I really like is all the functions are simple, clear, and easy to use – from speed adjustment to GPS settings.

Just as important is the security of my bag, and there were no issues throughout the round.

The detail that has gone into this trolley is second to none. You may think a touchscreen could be easy to accidentally knock but each command requires a double touch so it’s impossible to make a mistake.

Now you may be impressed by a fancy new touchscreen and all the technology involved, but my favourite part of the PowaKaddy FX7 is a tiny upgrade to… the main power button. Yes, you heard me right. A button.

Powakaddy FX7 GPS trolley review

We’ve all had that moment when we’re getting a club out of the bag, or waiting for our partner to play, and we’ve accidentally pressed the button on our trolley and sent it darting down the fairway. (Don’t lie, you know you have.)

So PowaKaddy have done us all a favour and completely redesigned it meaning you now have to press directly in the centre of the button, pictured above in the middle of the grey circle, which is lowered slightly to avoid accidents. It’s such a small change but makes a massive improvement to user experience.

Another small upgrade I really like is the battery on and off button which has been moved from the bottom to the top of the battery. This is just easier to see and and a better reminder to turn the battery off at the end of a round. I can’t count the amount of times I put the battery in the tray with it turned off last year only to have to remove it again. Nice touch, PowaKaddy!
