TaylorMade Tour Response Golf Ball Review: First Impressions
From the first putt I had with the TaylorMade Tour Response it instantly made a statement to me. It was soft, responsive, and gave off that reassuring “click” sound us golfers expect from a high-end urethane-covered ball. That’s no coincidence either as it features the same urethane cover found on the flagship TP5 and TP5x models, lending a familiar feel that golfers already loyal to the brand will appreciate.
The Tour Response also comes in a Stripe model with 360° ClearPath Alignment which is a visual aid that really stands out. Whether you’re lining up a putt or even setting up with the driver, the clear, bold stripe can give you that extra edge in confidence. Available in white, yellow, and a mix of colour options, it’s a small detail that adds genuine value.
NGC Verdict
Under the hood, the Tour Response features a new Speed Wrapped Core, designed to increase distance off the tee while retaining a soft feel around the greens. That is certainly what I experienced during testing.
Off the wedge, my spin rates were up to 6600 rpm, which are some of the highest numbers I’ve seen in a non-tour ball. That’s exceptional for a ball at this price point.

Equipped with TaylorMade’s Tour Flight Dimple Pattern which contributes to its high launch and stable ball flight. Off the irons, I produced a ball speed in the range of 119 to 123 mph, depending on the quality of my swing!
From this I was able to achieve a respectable average carry distance of around 169 yards. While spin numbers on irons were a touch low, trajectory remained high, and the ball offered plenty of carry.

From the tee, driver performance was impressive too. My ball speeds averaged around 158 mph, with a standout carry of 285 yards and rollout reaching 307 yards. Despite not being the fastest ball off the driver, it maintained low spin and has great launch characteristics, making it an excellent choice for maximising distance and consistency.

Overall, this is yet another example of TaylorMade’s hot streak not looking as if it is going to end anytime soon. This is a ball that punches well above its weight, delivering tour-level feel, spin, and control at a price point that makes it a genuine bargain.
