Information and a review on Bushnell’s latest rangefinder

NCG TESTS: Bushnell Tour Z6 laser

WHAT IT’S GOT

Amazing range
THE Bushnell Tour Z6 has an incredible range of 1,300 yards for reflective surfaces, 1,000 yards for trees, and 450 yards for the flag.

Coupled with the brand’s unique Pinseeker technology, which zeros in on the flag by blocking out the background, this gives superb accuracy no matter how far you have left.

QUICK TIP: If you struggle to keep the laser still, tuck your elbows into your chest – it will improve stability and make hitting the pin simple.

A reticle usable in the dark
MANY of us have been there – you’ve popped out for nine holes on a Sunday evening and on the last few your laser becomes useless as, although you can just about see the pin, the numbers are impossible to read. Bushnell have come to the rescue.

Instead of relying on 150-yard markers, give their Vivid Display Technology a go – this clever feature illuminates the reticle in bright red so you can keep on using it until it’s too dark to see the ball.

Unbelievable accuracy
ALL laser rangefinders work by firing a beam at the desired object and timing how long it takes to hit it and return to the device. It is based on the constant speed of light, so is very accurate. However, other models generally come with an accuracy of +/- two yards.

The Tour Z6 is accurate to a yard on zaps of 125 yards and over, and on those less than 125, it is correct to half a yard. Under 125, it also displays readings in 0.1 yard increments. Great if you’re ever in doubt over a club.

NEW to the Tour Z6 laser is Bushnell’s highly impressive E.S.P. technology, which essentially increases the speed at which numbers are calculated and presented on the screen.

Indeed, the Tour Z6 seems to give you a number considerably quicker than previous Bushnell models, especially on shorter shots, which are usually measured in the blink of an eye.

As with all Bushnell models, you can change the display to show either metres or yards and it is waterproof.

WHAT WE THINK

THIS is without doubt the most impressive laser I have used. It feels good in the hand, thanks to a glorious casing, and is quick and accurate.

The red display stands out even at dusk and the speed at which the numbers come up is nothing short of astonishing. My only gripe is the size and weight, which can make it hard to keep stable. If you have trouble keeping still, go for the larger Pro 1M.

DETAILS

The Tour Z6 retails at £349. For info on  the rest of the Bushnell range, head over to bushnellgolf.eu
