What’s new? How much does it cost? And how does it perform? Jack Backhouse brings you the low down on the Wilson Dynapwr 2025 irons.
Wilson are back with the release of the new Dynapwr irons which are packed with new technologies for added distance. The brand have once again added to their recently rejuvenated Dynapwr range which first launched way back in 1956. They’ve now added a new game-improvement iron to the line-up.
There is something extremely special about these irons but are they the longest irons ever made? Find out what I think in our Wilson Dynapwr irons 2025 review when I headed over to Spain and the La Cala Golf resort to give them a go….
NCG SUMMARY
These Wilson irons are certainly the longest hitting irons I have ever used. The ball simply crunches off the face and flies for what seems like an eternity. For game-improvement irons they have a surprisingly soft feel which is great for better control with the shorter irons.
I did find the peak height some of the longer irons delivered wasn’t sufficient for my game. Despite not providing as much launch with some irons, this Wilson set can still be utilised by a lot of club golfers who are looking to gain those extra yards.
PROS
Lightning quick ball speed
Exude great control into greens
Feel really good
Unbelievable distances
CONS
Launch height not very suitable for better control into greens
The new Wilson Dynapwr irons have maintained their game-improvement iron look from the previous generation. Equipped with a meaty topline and are a little bit offset, they look extremely inviting to hit over the ball.
With these clubs being geared towards higher handicappers they do have big heads. The back of the sole is visible at address which personally doesn’t suite my eye but for some this won’t be an off-putting.
NCG Verdict
The ball speed was utterly ridiculous. It was a struggle to believe how fast it was on nearly every strike. With a seven iron in hand I was producing a ball speed of 129mph on certain shots, a whole eight miles per hour more than I would except from a my own clubs.
There is no doubt that these are one of if not the longest hitting irons I have ever tested. The numbers speak for themselves. The seven iron produced an average of 129.4mph ball speed, resulting in a carry of 185 yards. This is at least 15 yards longer than I would expect to hit a seven iron, simply outrageous.
Wilson have enabled the lofts on the irons to be relatively strong because they have weighted the head low and towards the back of the head. This low and back centre of gravity increases the launch so the stronger lofts help the ball come off the face at a good window for optimal range.

Wilson may have used the same name as the previous generation of irons but they have packed the iron heads full of new technology. They have been designed with the inclusion of a hollow body construction which optimises weight distribution to add to the forgiveness and distance of the irons.
As these hollow body designed irons are constructed for maximum distance the spin is often significantly lower than that of a player’s distance set. Therefore, Wilson have to look at getting the golf ball to stop a different way during the construction which they have by promoting a higher peak height through the lofts.
The feedback from these irons is incredible. The ball cracks off the face on the good strikes and its not much of a stretch to say that on these strikes the ball goes for miles.
Other technological developments include a new Cup Face design, the PKR-Cup face, and a velocity optimisation channel. These technologies in the head of the irons help to make them super hot, maximise the ball speeds and deliver those consistent launch windows.
Something else I noted about the feel was that it didn’t feel too firm like some game-improvement irons. Wilson have done a great job in delivering a soft feel despite the fast ball speeds and I did feel like I could control the ball into a green as oppose to it flying off the putting surface.
Impressively for the shorter approach shots, the spin rate did increase sitting at around 9000rpm. This is optimal for me and my game with Wilson certainly proving me wrong with my theory on game-improvement clubs.

The irons move through the turf really nicely and the irons gap really nicely to fit in the same set as each other to deliver ideal distances for each iron. Even off-centred strikes were still performing at a high and consistent level. I hit a few shots out of the neck of the club and still carried only one yard less than some of the cleaner nine iron strikes.
I would say that, in the shorter irons I felt like I was giving up some control. The spin on the seven iron was too low for it to be a useable club for me. I also struggle to launch hollow body head irons. The five iron was launching at around 8° most of the time which is too low for hitting into any sort of incline on the golf course.
The longer irons offer plenty of help from the technologies. I was still gaining great distance and ball speed from imperfect strikes.
Overall, if you are a high handicapper and not a particularly consistent ball striker, in terms of face contact, then these should be ideal for your game. With Wilson you know you are going to get great value for money as these Wilson Dynapwr irons are nowhere near as expensive as other sets.
Where you need to assess if the irons will be the right fit for you is if the launch isn’t sufficient. This was the case for me with the peak height being 66ft on some strikes with the five iron which is just too low for optimal performance and ultimately a lack of control when hitting into the green.
For the golfers who don’t tend to hit a high launch in their ball flight and is looking for maximum distance then your in luck. You will optimise your total distance using these irons and they do feel epic.
