NCG SUMMARY

This is a great fairway wood for people who have a shallower angle of attack and sweep the golf ball. The classic Titleist look really catches the eye and gives it that premium look.

It had all the qualities for any handicapper to be able to use it. It was light and easy to swing, delivered great distance and lots of added forgiveness.

PROS

  • Very forgiving
  • Felt light
  • Looked great at address

CONS

  • Not as much as adjustability as other models

Titleist GT2 Fairway Wood Review: First Impressions

What struck me first was how good they looked. The crown of the GT metals has kept the same classic Titleist look that we have all fallen in love with over the years. It looked fantastic at address, which Titleist attributes to the new Seamless Thermoform Crown they have developed, which allows for new technology without giving up that classic gloss Titleist look.

The GT2 fairway wood presents a sleeker, mid-sized profile, catering to players who prefer a traditional yet confidence-inspiring look at address. Compared to the larger GT1 the GT2 offers a slightly more compact footprint while still maintaining a good level of forgiveness. Its sound and feel are distinctly solid, with a clean, powerful strike that is reminiscent of classic fairway woods.

I would go as far to say that I really liked the feel of the club. Having hit the Titleist GT1 fairway wood, I can say the GT2 produces a sharper, more refined impact. I believe this would appeal to players who prefer a more responsive feel.

NCG Verdict

First thing to say is the Titleist GT2 Fairway Wood is forgiving, but slightly less so than the GT1. It offers a mid-launch trajectory with controlled spin, making it an excellent choice for players who want a blend of distance and precision.

The centre of gravity, CG, is positioned forward. As a result I was able to produce a more penetrating ball flight compared to the GT1 but with enough launch to remain playable from a variety of lies.

Titleist has designed this fairway wood with front-weighted CG placement, ensuring high ball speeds and low spin. An ideal combination I found for players who generate a lot of club head speed but still want reliable control into greens.

While not as forgiving as the GT1, the GT2 still provides a good margin for error. As you can see from the data below, it is able to maintain consistent ball speeds for me even on off-centred hits.

Compared to the GT1, which is more geared toward straight shots and high launch, the GT2 allows players to shape shots more effectively. However, it isn’t as tailored for workability as the GT3, which is designed specifically for low spin and maximum shot-shaping ability.

Consistency was a big plus in terms of performance. The club’s forgiveness undoubtedly allows for this consistency with the data.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Titleist GT2 Fairway Wood is a well-rounded club that blends speed, forgiveness, and precision well. It offers a clean look, solid feel, and high-speed performance, making it an excellent choice for players looking to bridge the gap between ultra-forgiving and highly workable fairway woods.

I still believe that for those seeking maximum forgiveness and effortless height, the GT1 may be the better option. However, if a slightly lower launch and a touch more control is what you are after, the GT2 is the perfect middle ground.
