Shot Scope are back with brand new products for 2023, so what tech do they have to improve your game this time? Let’s take a look…

Shot Scope G5

The new G5 watch is what Shot Scope are calling a ‘modernised GPS watch’, and I have to say, in terms of visuals, it is a big step up compared to the previous Shot Scope G3.

The watch face really does have a smart modern twist to it, and the graphics bring distance and hazard measurements to life much more.

A really cool feature in the release is the option to customise your watch. Players can pick from two different watch colours and twelve different strap colours, meaning you can really make the watch your own. With each watch purchase, you get to pick two strap colours, so you can mix up how your watch looks on different days.

Shot Scope G5: The Technology

So what are the main features of the Shot Scope G5?

At it’s core, this is a GPS watch. The key is dynamic yardages to the front, middle and back of the greens as well as distances to hazards, doglegs and lay-up points.

A new feature is the ability to see hole layouts so you can more easily access data to dog legs and see the shape of holes you are playing.

Unlike many other Shot Scope devices, the G5 doesn’t offer shot-tracking capability as not everyone wants to track their data. This is designed with ease of use at it’s core and gives golfers the most important data in a simple layout making it quick and easy to use.

For anyone who finds the display slightly on the small side there is also an extra-large unit display option to make the on-screen text bigger.

The G5 also has a new digital scorecard feature allowing golfers to keep score as they go. The watch comes with 36,000 golf courses pre-loaded, giving you distances wherever you choose to play.

After you have finished playing, you can simply switch your watch to one of the numerous clock face designs, giving this on-course and off-course functionality.

What is interesting about this watch is it doesn’t require an app connection to work. You can simply take this out of the box, and it is ready to go. If you’re someone who doesn’t like having to sync up tech with other devices, this is great news.
