The previous generation of PXG Sugar Daddy wedges were known for their versatility, and this doesn’t seem to have changed with the latest iteration. PXG say they have been engineered to be able to be used across all playing conditions to add to their versatility.
What other benefits do PXG’s new wedges offer? Let’s find out…
PXG Sugar Daddy ||| Wedges: The Technology
The new PXG Sugar Daddy ||| wedges have tighter groove spacing then the previous gen, which is designed to give them better ball control in all conditions. PXG say that this doesn’t affect their wide groove technology, which helps the grooves of the wedge to engage deeper with the cover of the ball. In turn, this helps the player to initiate more control and consistency with the trajectory of the ball, as well as the spin rate. Tighter spacing grooves should provide a more consistent spin rate and launch angle in wet or high grass conditions.
An improvement from the Sugar Daddy ||| wedges’ predecessor is the level of MOI improving in both the y and x axis’ of the club. This is as a result of PXG’s weight-saving ventures, eight grams have been removed from the middle of the club head and redistributed to the top and bottom of the club head. Higher MOI in both axis aids in more consistent distances being achieved.
The wedges have optimised their available spin rate through a progressive CG location based on loft. PXG say the CG will move higher after the removal and redistribution of weight and this will see greater performance benefit potential. A lower ball launch with more spin can be the result of a higher CG.
