There’s a bit of retro magic in the design of the TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver – but there is some serious tech among the nostalgia

TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver

Ready for a trip down memory lane? TaylorMade have launched the all-new 300 Mini Driver. Its design was strongly influenced by the original 300 Series from way back in 2000.

TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver: First impressions

As always TaylorMade excel when it comes to making great looking metalwoods and this is up there with the product I’m most excited about getting my hands on and trying in the near future – so watch this space. For now, though, here’s what you need to know…

TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver: The technology

The new driver has a 307cc head to help deliver a blend of distance, forgiveness, and control. The multi-material construction creates a low CG performance and high MOI for forgiveness.

The low centre of gravity delivers high launch and low spin off the tee. Despite its smaller size the combination of the high-strength titanium face and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket helps increase ball speed.

The new design also incorporates TaylorMade’s Twist Face technology and a redesigned V-Steel soleplate to lower the CG and improve turf interaction when hitting off the deck.

A prototype model of the 300 Mini Driver has already been put in play during the US Open and multiple players are also testing the driver ahead of the Open Championship.

“It’s been 20 years since we last made a metalwood this size,” Tomo Bystedt, TaylorMade’s director of product creation, explained. “It was only natural to call it the 300 Mini Driver to acknowledge what the 300 Series meant to our brand and the game.

“We blended the throwback look with modern carbon, titanium and steel construction to produce a club the speaks to TaylorMade loyalists while delivering distance from the tee and the fairway.”
