What’s new for the Chrome Soft range in 2021? Hannah Holden has the details

Callaway Chrome Soft X LS

For 2021 Callaway are extending their Chrome Soft line-up specifically for the better player. The clue is in the name – it’s a low-spin model.

It still has the same characteristics you would expect from a Chrome Soft golf ball. It’s fast off the face and very much driver performance led.

This new model is aimed at low-handicap players who want longer, straighter drives and a ball with which they can attack pins. This is made possible by providing low spin on long game shots but high spin around the greens.

It really has a premium on accuracy and consistency and offers more workability which is what makes this model so popular on tour.

Callaway Chrome Soft X LS: The technology

The Chrome Soft X LS is a four-piece ball with a single core construction. The core is designed to be larger to provide more ball speed and distance.

The middle two layers make up the dual mantle system. The soft inner and firm outer work together to produce fast ball speeds.

The balls cover is a thinner propriety urethane helping deliver low spin on full shots and high spin arounds the greens. It will also provide that much loved soft feel on short game shots.

But that’s not all, the aerodynamics are optimised for this model reducing drag giving this the lower flight characteristics needed in this lower spin model.
