The Best Golf Betting Games in the US: Gamble with Friends on the Course

If you like playing golf as a pastime, you may also enjoy a little friendly rivalry with your friends. Playing a friendly bet may liven up your game even when you’re not playing for million dollars on Sunday afternoon.

So, rather than standard betting on the PGA Tour using golf betting software at one of the top sportsbooks, we’ve put together the list of the best golf betting games, from the friendliest and most simple to ones that are more difficult and might leave your wallet lighter or heavier based on the score.

Two-Man Scramble

This is a game you’ve probably played before if you’ve ever taken part in a charity golf event. All you must do is follow these easy guidelines: Divide your party of four into two separate teams of two people each. Each hole is a match play tournament, with the exception that you always play from your team’s best shot. This means that if you miss your drive and your partner hits it right down the pitch, you’ll both be able to take advantage of the more favourable position when it comes to making your second stroke. The pot is split between the top two teams in terms of strokes (or skins,  if you prefer) and is awarded to the team with the most victories. This is a variation of “best ball,” where each player takes their own ball, and afterward, the team will take the lowest score of the two golfers. Groups of four or more work best in this game. It’s ideal for linking up the best and worst golfers on each team if their abilities vary. However, if one golfer dominates the other three, this may not be the ideal game.

Best to Next

It’s a team game like the best ball in which each player takes a shot, but the game is played in tandem. Ties are broken based on the highest score of each participant. To avoid several ties at each hole, this is an excellent game to play. If one side is 4-4 and the additional is 4-5, the former is the victor in this situation. In this game, groups of four or more work best. Best Ball or Two-Man Scramble, in which one outstanding golfer may carry his team of four, are suitable alternatives here. The higher your score, the more important it is on par-3s.

Hammer

This game might be the most fun one on this list. This game can be played one-on-one or two-on-two. You set up a fixed $10 pot for each hole. A player or team can “hammer” the other to start the game. If this happens, the other team has two options: they can “fold,” which means they end up losing their $10 and the hole ends, or they can “raise,” which makes the hole worth twice as much as it was before, for a total of $20. Imagine that Team 1 loses the fairway on the first tee, and Team 2 makes it. Team 2 is expected to “hammer” the hole to $20, but if Team 1 makes a great shot from the rough to within five feet of the hole, they can “hammer back” the opposite team and make the hole @$40. If Team 2 then puts it 10 feet from the hole and makes the putt, they might re-hammer Team 1 and compel them to make their 5-foot putt again for an extra $80. Talk about putting someone in a tough spot. In this game, two or four people work best. You need an even number of people to play in teams of one or two.

Banker

It’s a fun game, although it gets a bit complex at times. At least three persons are required to play this game, and each hole must have a minimum and maximum amount. Let’s suppose the minimum is $5 and the maximum is $50. The first hole will be rotated by selecting a banker. During each hole, the banker tees off first, and each player decides how much they wish to play the banker. The banker, for example, may be played for $30 on the hole by Player 2; Player 3 can play him for $5, and Player 4 can play him for $50 on the hole. Players 2-4 are not competing against one another; instead, they are all taking on the banker in one-on-one battles. The banker for the following hole is the player with the lowest score on the current hole, and ties are broken by the player with the longest putt. In this game, groups of three or four work best. This game has a rotating banker and tee-to-tee drama. Additionally, this game is ideal for participants with varying bankrolls.

Summing Up

There’s nothing more challenging than golf. You’ll become a better golfer by adding a friendly bet to your game, whether you’re playing for a beer at the 19th hole or quick money.
