New golf rules in 2019
Not familiar with the new Rules of Golf?
For most people, Golf is a relaxing game. But for some, it is a just competition. Golf is a club and ball sport. Players use a ball and hit it into a series of holes. Golf is different from other ball games. It doesn’t need consistent playing area. Yet, this game has many rules that have been changed over the past years. The new rules apply worldwide. Let’s take a look of the new changers.
Finding the ball
Hurry up golf players! Once the ball is lost, you’ll have a countdown of three minutes to search for it. Five minutes seems too long to find the ball. The time search has been cut down. This is a good way not to waste too much time.
Move the ball rule
If during the search of the ball, and it accidentally moved, good news! It’s no longer a penalty stroke. You can move, lift or take out anything to search your ball now.
Is this my ball?
When you lost your ball, you need to make sure to identify it. Previously, you had to pick it up and inform a fellow- player that this is your ball so that the game can proceed. Now, you don’t have to inform any of the fellow- player. Yet, to avoid misunderstanding, informing fellow players is a must.
Temporary ball rule
Before, if your ball was lost, you can always take another one. But now, you can play with a provisional ball, but you need to look for your original one. This is a good rule as you don’t have much time to look for it due to the three minutes search rule.
The Club Length rule
Before, players could use his clubs so as to measure a club-length. This has changed. A club- length is
now measured as the longest club in your bag. Yet, a longer broom handle putters is not acceptable.
The Dropping Rule
You could drop the ball from shoulder height before. But now ladies and gents, you have to drop from knee height. The good thing about this one is that if you have the habit of dropping the ball from shoulder height, just do it again. It won’t count as a penalty.
Wrong green rule
The wrong green rule is that, player cannot play if the ball lands on the wrong green. This will damage the green. Yet, if the balls lands close to the wrong green, then you’ll have to take a free drop in your stance on the wrong green.
The Double hit rules
A penalty would have occurred if the club was trapped when played. So, you’ll have a chance to hit the ball more than once. But now, this is not a penalty.
Ball moves on the green rule
If the ball moves after being marked, you would have to play as from the new spot. But now pals, you have to put the ball back to its original spot. This rule is better, as it is fair and just for the players.
The Flag stick rules
Before, if you hit the flag stick, the flag tends to prevent the ball from entering the hole. So, you had to remove the flag. Now, if you hit the flag stick, it won’t count as a penalty. You can leave the flag in the hole. It is best to leave the flag in the hole as it helps to hole out. This is an advantage for the player.
Do you think it’s difficult to master those rules? Make as if you were to learn the rules of slots. They are not as complicated as you might think. Once you set going, you will most probably want to settle for the Golf game. The best tip is to focus on your target and hit the ball right!
