Joe Burrow Discusses Possible Golfing Match-Up With Patrick Mahomes

Not content with going head to head with his NFL counterparts, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has revealed he’d consider taking on his fellow pros in a game of golf as part of the ongoing series ‘The Match.’

Earlier this year, the seventh edition of the show saw Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers take on Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes at the Paradise course in Nevada, and the veteran pair emerged victorious.

Burrow is now apparently interested in getting involved, and the 25-year-old will hope that as well as keeping on par with his fellow QBs on the greens and fairways, he’d like his Bengals to make a real impact this season.

A cursory glance at odds comparison site Sidelines will tell you that last season’s Super Bowl losers are on a roll, having won three on the trot and sitting at (+2000) to win the title this time around.

Burrow has openly admitted his golf game isn’t great, but a strong financial offer may tempt him into doing battle;

“I’m not very good at golf,” before commenting that it would “take a lot of money” for him to “stink it up on live TV.”

He was also honest enough to admit that “I’m not very good at golf,” which may well just make even more people want to see him in action.

Burrow and Mahomes are certainly two of the best quarterbacks from the younger end of the NFL spectrum playing today, and the rivalry between the two has been compared by Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd to two all-time greats;

“It’s going back to that quarterback fight. I look at it like Manning and Brady,”

“You can’t stop them. It comes down to whoever excels and takes advantage of their opportunities and drives and scores points. These are the types of games that we have to take care of the football and not turn it over.”

When asked as to which of the two he felt was Brady and which was Manning, Boyd opted to answer diplomatically;

“It’s Burrow and Mahomes. I wouldn’t compare them,”

 “Those are two guys with records for fastest two quarterbacks to reach 10,000 yards. It’s hard to stop Burrow and hard to stop Mahomes. At the end of the day, Burrow is two up. Whichever one you want to pick, whoever got the most wins, there you go.”

The pair go head to head on December 4th, with both teams in strong form in what is sure to be a tightly fought encounter. Patrick Mahomes will be looking for a measure of revenge after his Kansas City Chiefs were dumped out of the AFC Championship game last season in a 27-24 clash that went to overtime.

The Chiefs are top of the AFC with an impressive 9-2 record, and the Bengals currently sit in the sixth position and in the second spot in the AFC North, albeit with the same record as the Baltimore Ravens.

With the likes of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers nearing the ends of their respective careers, it’s good to have a bunch of new talents coming through, with the likes of the aforementioned Burrow, Mahomes, Allen as well as Lamar Jackson at the Ravens all starting to put their stamp on the NFL.
