7 Most Luxurious (and Expensive) Golf Resorts in the World

A vacation is exactly what everyone needs to break away from the day-to-day grind of work. And what better way to enjoy your time off than lavishing on the expansive green grounds at an exquisite resort tailormade for dedicated golf fans?

While the US may boast of having the most golf resorts, you can find fantastic experiences all around the globe, including Australia and Ireland.

As beautiful as the courses are, most people don’t just visit them for the vast ranges. These courses are world-class resorts with spas, hotels, restaurants, and clubs.

Keep reading as we look at seven of the most luxurious and expensive golf resorts on the planet.

1. Laucala, Fiji

Price: $4,800 per day (includes many other activities)

Laucala is a private island in Fiji reachable by either the resort’s private jet or your own. This 18-hole course requires a minimum stay of three nights in the delightful resort and provides beautiful views of the ocean, volcanic mountains, and cliff faces. The 12th hole sits at the edge of the ocean, providing an extra thrill for players.

With the hefty price of $14,400 for the stay, players can enjoy unlimited rounds of golf. However, complimentary land and sea activities, including horseback riding, scuba diving, and a Deepflight Submarine experience, are also available off course.

2. Shadow Creek Golf Course, Las Vegas, Nevada

Price: $1,000 per day

At an astounding $1,000 a day, Shadow Creek Golf Course is undoubtedly the most expensive course in the world. Based in Las Vegas, a city known for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife, many famous games have been played on the green, such as the match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

The resort is open to guests of any MGM Resorts International destination in Vegas. So, if you need a break from looking for a variety of leading bonuses, loose slots, and over-the-top shows on the Strip, Shadow Creek might be the perfect getaway.

What makes Shadow Creek interesting for most players is the unique achievements they feel as they refine their yardage control on greens that have more width than depth and the ability to use a putter by the second tee shot. The architectural designs by Steve Wynn and Tom Fazio are noted as innovative and legendary.

Only a 20-to-30-minute commute from the Las Vegas Strip, the Shadow Creek is close to a multitude of restaurants, casinos, shows, and shopping.

3. Royal Melbourne, Black Rock, Victoria, Australia

Price: $750 per day (plus caddy fee)

Claimed as the traditional jewel of Australia’s golfing crown, the Royal Melbourne has a design on which famous golf course architect Alister Mackenzie consulted. Each hole is playable yet challenging for players as they struggle to find the perfect position and adjust to the significant elevation gain.

Many venerated players will surely be eager to tee off on the beautiful green, but the clubhouse has a lot to offer when players need to take a break. With pictures and various memorabilia on display, any golfer will appreciate the history of such treasures.

The Royal Melbourne costs $750 a day during peak season with a compulsory $140 caddy fee.

4. TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Veda Beach, Florida

Price: $720 per day

The Tournament Players Club (TPC) was designed in 1980 to host TPC competitions. With one of the most challenging holes in the world, many players desire to test their skills on Island Green, a par-3 hole.

The architectural design of TPC mimics the shape of a stadium with seats embedded into the grass to allow for an audience capacity of 36,000 and complete enjoyment of the spectators.

The clubhouse certainly doesn’t leave spectators hungry. It is open to the public to enjoy a fine dining experience with several options as well as to discover the history with trained storytellers.

5. Trump National Doral Miami, Doral, Florida

Price: $655 per day

The Trump National Doral Miami is a luxurious golf resort and one of the 500+ business interests in which former-president Donald Trump has expanded. Regardless of the opinions on Trump, the course is one of the most expensive and boasts 72 holes, some of which are considered among the world’s most luxurious.

On the expansive property that spans up to 800 acres, guests can experience a country club, resort, and several lodges with spas, retail outlets, and award-winning restaurants.

Price: $595 per day

Over 100 years old, the golf course on Pebble Beach in California has a reputation for relaxation and beauty. Located on the Monterey Peninsula, Pebble Beach Golf Links is full of sun to enrich the playing experience on the green.

On top of experiencing the joy of playing through the 18 holes, guests can find a full spa, a luxury resort, and three hotels at their disposal.

As players progress through the course, rated the top public golf course in America, they will be captivated knowing each hole has incredible tales of iconic moments. These include visits from stars such as Bing Crosby and major events such as the US Amateurs and US Opens.

While Pebble Beach is the shortest course on the PGA Tour, the vast scenery is a slight hindrance as players make difficult shots into greens that look like dimes from far away.

Price: $512 per day

The Old Head of Kinsale features a castle that has been watching over the sea since 200 AD and a lighthouse, a more recent structure from the 17th century. Since the construction of the golf course, the public has been restricted from accessing the headland.

Players who visit the Old Head course can marvel at both the fantastic view and the astounding historical significance of the land and structures. While all 18 holes provide stunning ocean views, nine of the holes play along the cliff tops. Several challenges will heighten a player’s focus as sea breezes are ever-changing. Despite this, the course is suited for golfers of all handicap abilities.
