JB: A fine links test on any given day.
DM: It’s the real thing, with a quite brilliant last hole.
Commentary: An old-style layout, a true links test. It makes great use of the natural dunesland.

DM: I love the idea, spirit and ethos of Trevose, a course of real magnitude.
JB: The best holes are closest to the sea. Always a fun venue.
Commentary: The best holes here are exceptional.

JB: I do like the way they use some of the bunkers.
DM: I love the look of the 1st hole ” it’s one that really gets you in the mood.
Commentary: An unusual blend of parkland and heathland.

SA: No fewer than four compelling holes (3, 5, 9 & 16) making it well worthwhile for those near Manchester.
Commentary: Harry Colt dealt with the severity of the terrain here admirably.

DM: Underrated and under-appreciated by the wider golfing public. It’s a fantastic old links.
Commentary: Quintessentially Scottish in every element of its bouncy, gorse-lined fairways and rich green complexes.
75. BUDE & NORTH CORNWALL

EB: Has some of the best holes in the South West.
JB: There are some super holes. Very similar to Prestwick in character.
Commentary: Rich in character and variety.

SA: The views alone are worth the modest green fee.
DM: A real mix of a course ” there is a bit of everything here. Some brilliant holes.
Commentary: A fine course and a great place to visit.

DM: An unusual course that’s high up but in places plays like a links.
EB: It’s got all the elements of links golf. I’m a big fan.
Commentary: One of the best in South Wales and a host of many national events.
72. FRASERBURGH (CORBIEHILL)

EB: Very natural golf course, loads of fun shots to play on some fabulous holes.
DM: The good bits here are really very good. Well worth the trip.
Commentary: Fraserburgh is a real outpost, north of Aberdeen. It’s historic (ancient, even) and has changed little over the years.

EB: My reaction was that it’s massively underrated.
DM: Overshadowed by Hoylake but a fine links for the most part just across the Mersey.
Commentary: Some wonderful holes on true linksland.
