PGA Tour preview: Sanderson Farms Championship TV times and betting tips
The quality of American golf at the moment is a truly frightening prospect, as showcased at the Ryder Cup, and the field at the second event of the 2022 PGA Tour season, the Sanderson Farms Championship, is packed with those that just missed out on a place at Whistling Straits. Defending champion and fresh from making all sorts of history in Wisconsin, Sergio Garcia will tee it up here, but I’ve drilled deeper into the field to find some value picks for you all this week.

Sanderson Farms Championship details
Venues: Country Club of Jackson, Mississippi, USA
Date: September 30-October 3, 2021
Course stats: Par 72; 7,460 yards
Course summary: A flat parkland course that shouldn’t give the players too many headaches. Bunkers and water hazards are the course’s main defence, protecting wider than average fairways and Bermuda greens. As a relatively long track, driving distance will be important for players in order to set up an ideal approach shot.

Bazza’s Banker: Mito Pereira @ 35/1 with Bet365
Pereira has started this new season in the same way has he finished the last – on fire. A third place finish at the Fortinet Championship made it four top-six finishes in his last six starts, one of which saw him just miss out on a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Three wins and nine top-10 finishes on the Korn Ferry Tour last season demonstrate the quality and potential he possesses, so its no surprise to see him climb into the top 100 in the world for the first time. His excellent performances off the tee and on approach to the green have been his strongest weapon recently, so if he can get the putter to behave he could have a great chance to secure his first PGA Tour win.
The each-way bet: Sebastian Munoz @ 50/1 with Bet365
Despite missing the cut in the opening event of the season, Munoz has still played some great golf recently and as a past winner of this event I think he is slightly overpriced. The Colombian finished last season with a T4 finish at the John Deere and followed that by joining Mito Pereira in just missing out on a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics. A strong performance throughout the FedEx Cup Play-offs saw him make it to East Lake, and a recent win here in 2020 certainly increases his appeal. Munoz will need to improve on his last performance, and by some margin, but if he can find the standard of golf he played last month he could be a great shout to become a multiple Sanderson Farms Championship winner at a big price.
The outsider: JT Poston @ 175/1 with Bet365
I am a strong believer in horses for courses, so with Poston’s second best finish of the season coming here last year I am prepared to gamble on him at a big price. Poston was third here in 2020, and 11th in 2019, so certainly knows what it takes to be successful round this track.
A runner-up finish at the Barbasol just five starts ago are extremely encouraging when you consider the price we are getting, and whilst he is partial to a missed cut or two, he often pops up with solid performances at courses he likes. His most recent win came just a few seasons ago, at the 2019 Wyndham Championship, so while this selection is a bit of a gamble you are getting a PGA Tour winner with strong recent course form.
