Australian Marcus Fraser holds slender advantage in Rio

Marcus Fraser holds a one-shot lead over Thomas Pieters at the Olympic Games..

Following an opening day 63 Australian Marcus Fraser backed up his positive play with a 2-under par 69 to hold the advantage at 10-under in Rio.

The day began with high winds and rain with many of the earlier starters having to battle the elements alongside the Gil Hanse course.

Fraser though, didn’t let the difficult conditions hamper his form as the weather eased into the afternoon.

Belgian Thomas Pieters came out firing on day two shooting a 5-under 66 to hold second position on his own, while Open champion Henrik Stenson had a mixed day.

The Swede’s putter saved him on more than one occasion from distance to help the 40-year-old to a fine 68 just two off Fraser’s lead.

Team GB’s Justin Rose also backed up his day one form with a solid 69 to sit at 6-under for the tournament alongside Frenchman Gregory Bourdy.

Canadian Graham DeLaet, Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello and New Zealander Danny Lee also remain in contention at 5-under.
