New president at Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs
A retired firefighter has been appointed as president of the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs.
Tony McMunn, the former deputy chief fire officer in Hereford and Worcester, will take on the role from March next year, succeeding David Eccleston.
Manchester-born McMunn has served on the Lancashire executive since 2003 and for the last four years has been championship chairman. He said: “It has given m a tremendous insight into the management of golf at county level. We have highly successful teams at all levels and I also believe that the Lancashire County Golf Partnership will help clubs during these difficult times in retaining and recruiting new members.”
McMunn is also a Preston magistrate and former president of the National Associate of Fire Officers.
He joined Lancashire Golf Club in 2011 and his wite, Jane, was Lancashire Ladies County GA captain in 2013.
