Clubstohire extends its club rental service to ThailandOctober, 2014 Equipment
Successful Irish-based firm set up in Asia's golf capital
At the beginning of next month, ClubstoHire.com, the company backed by Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, will be providing golfers with rental sets of high-end clubs when they visit Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand.
It marks the first move into the Asian market by the Dublin-based rental company, which is the largest of its kind in Europe with 21 locations – supplying an estimated 60,000 sets of clubs this year.
Until now, its other destinations outside Europe have been Cape Town in South Africa and Marrakesh in Morocco, which were both opened within the last 12 months.
“More than 750,000 golfers travelled to Thailand last year and it’s said to be on the verge of becoming the world’s most popular golf tourism destination, so we had to step up to the plate there,” said CEO Tony Judge.
“In the last six to 12 months, several leading airlines flying to the area have increased their costs of transporting golf clubs and so we hope our new openings will be welcomed by travelling golfers looking to play the sport in Thailand.
“This is a very exciting move for the company and one that Paul supports wholeheartedly having increased his stake recently,” added Judge.
“We intend to further grow our presence in this area in the near future and help more golfers play the game in exotic locations.”
Playing golf in Thailand is increasingly popular, due to the quality of the courses and availability of caddies, plus a super climate and excellent flight connections" Initially, golfers visiting Thailand will be offered sets of the latest TaylorMade clubs featuring the JetSpeed driver and SpeedBlade irons.
Among the 30 or so courses in Bangkok, there are the Suwan Golf & Country Club, the Amata Spring and Lakewood Country Club; while in the southern district of Pattaya over 20 courses to choose from include the Bangpra, Crystal Bay and Emerald golf clubs.
“Playing golf in Thailand is increasingly popular, due to the quality of the courses and availability of caddies, plus a super climate and excellent flight connections,” added Judge.
The company’s efficient website service offers travelling golfers the chance to hire out the latest sets of clubs from leading manufacturers, including options for ladies, juniors and left-handers with putters and bags.
