Garmin release new Approach S6 GPS watch

New GPS watch from Garmin includes swing speed and strength monitors to maintain consistency

Garmin has launched a game-changing new GPS Golf Watch which includes features to help maintain a consistent golf swing.

The Approach S6 GPS golf watch combines innovative new features with a slick and lightweight design.

Equipped with innovative new technology such as SwingTempo, TempoTrainer and SwingStrength, the S6 measures swing consistency and synchronisation giving golfers an accurate insight into their game and the ability to improve their technique.

Before a round golfers can calibrate their best swing then use the readings to see how well they are replicating it.

The release follows on from the Garmin Approach G7 and G8 handheld devices and the S4 GPS watch.

All features from the previous devices – plus a range of new technologies are available in the S6.

A dedicated CourseView button allows golfers to quickly and easily preview hole details like doglegs, bunkers and water hazards on its full colour, high-res touchscreen – a feature previously only available on Garmin golf handhelds.

“It’s sleeker, lighter and is ideal for any golfer who wants to improve their game,” said Garmin product manager Greg Vulinovic.

“It can help golfers swing more consistently and manage the course better by taking out a lot of the guess work.”

Golfers can use a range of scoring options including stroke play and Stableford on their Approach S6, and later all their game statistics will be available to view on the Garmin Connect App for smartphones.

Paired with the S6, Garmin Connect allows golfers to download and compare their rounds and track improvements to their game on every course they play. The app can even assemble a player’s ideal round by combining their best scores for each hole.

Loaded with over 30,000 international courses, the S6 also has Garmin’s GreenView technology, which shows golfers the exact layout of the green, and PinPointer, a great new feature that offers blind shot assistance, allowing golfers to line up their shot, even if they are in the woods or deep in the rough.
