Dalmahoy (East)

The East is the championship course at the comprehensive Dalmahoy resort - and it warrants that description for two reasons. Firstly, it has held numerous European Tour events as well as the Scottish Professionals Championship and the Solheim Cup. Seve Ballesteros, Sam Torrance and Nick Faldo have all competed in the Scottish Seniors Open here. And secondly it is a long course, with an especially muscular back nine that you might say makes the East a little lopsided in that respect. It is a brute from the Championship tees at over 7,400 yards, albeit the average golfer would play it off 6,684 yards or less.

A typically astute James Braid design, the finish has changed from the great designer's days. So, what was the 16th is now the 18th and it was always the strongest hole on the course, so it now makes for a fine climax. Located west of the city close to the airport, it is a good base for a trip to Edinburgh and the East is the star attraction.
