Tenerife does well in our Spanish ranking and this is the first of their numerous entries.
It is a Pepe Gancedo design that consists of three evenly balanced loops of nine holes - the North, South and the Links.
All of the loops are somewhere between 3,000 yards and 3,300, so it is what we might describe as 'holiday golf'.
But anyone who has played here knows it can get windy at Golf del Sur and that makes it enough of a challenge.
Former Ryder Cup player Manuel Pinero did some light renovation work here, especially to the middle section of the Links nine.
But it is the 3rd on the North course that is likely to stay longest in your memory, a par 4 where a ravine to the right is a magnet for balls, especially in a cross wind from the left. Palm trees line the left side, always with the menacing-looking black volcanic sand at their base.
