Why this is a huge season for me

IN the past Ive usually been reluctant to reveal my aims for the season, as I suspect most young players are. Well, Im changing that habit right here, right now.

I dont mind admitting that this is a big season for me. This is when I know I need to make the transfer from one of Britains most promising players into a real force on the Ladies European Tour.

This will be my fourth season on tour and Im aprroaching this one differently. In my first I wanted to keep my card, in my second I wanted a few top 10s and to challenge for a tournament, and in my third I wanted to challenge for several and win one.

Now, I want to win three or four tournaments. Yes, I know, its ambitious, but its what I want to achieve this year, what I feel I should be achieving this year.

Lets get one thing straight, though, Im not being cocky or arrogant and setting myself up for a fall. Im just being brutally honest with myself and saying I need to step up a level and produce the goods Im sure I am capable of.

Playing consistently well is the basis for that but I did that last year and it wasnt, as I look back now, a satisfactory season to be perfectly frank.

I want to add a more ruthless streak to my game, be utterly focussed when Im in with a chance of winning and ultimately add titles to that consistency I showed in 2006.

The incentives are there. Alex Armas and the LET as a whole have produced a really good schedule with more tournaments and more prize money. All the girls cant wait to get started.

On top of that, there is the little matter of the Solheim Cup at the end of the season. Now, theres an incentive!

The experience of the two French girls, Gwladys Nocera and Ludivine Kreutz showed that you CAN play your way onto the team and that if you do so, you ARE good enough to play against the best from America.

Gwladys showed by beating Cristie Kerr that if youre good enough to claim one of the five spots automatically then you have the talent to prosper in the Solheim Cup itself.

Its back in Sweden this year too, and everyone who was at Barseback in 2005 will want to be there this time, whether youre a player, supporter or a journalist. I watched the action on television and and that was enough to make me dearly want to be a part of it this time around.

Part of my confidence in what I can achieve this year comes from the preparation I have undertaken over the winter months.

Ive been out to Desert Springs in Almeria twice for a fortnight and I really cant speak highly enough of the place.

The Spanish weather, even in the deepest depths of winter, was amazing and, combined with the practice facilities made getting up in the morning to hit shots a real pleasure.

I dont think Ive ever seen practice facilities better than those at Desert Springs, which also benefits from the expertise Christine Langford brings to any golfing operation.

Ive known Chris from some time and really trust her judgement about my game. Its why I will head back to Desert Springs (pictured) in April for some more fine tuning ahead of the LET season itself.

Chris does a great job out there and it really is a women-friendly complex so if you fancy some sun on your back I can highly recommend it!

My time out there means I am feeling super-prepared for the start of the season, which begins in earnest at the Womens Women Cup.

Id love to preview that more here but print deadlines meant by the time you read this the event might well be over. Rest assured, next month I will wax lyrical about South Africa et al. I cant wait!

After that I head straight Down Under for the Australian Open and the ANZ Masters, so its an exciting start to the season.

Im determined to make this a real breakthrough season and fell mentally and physically ready to do that.
I even read one of Bob Rotellas books, Putting out of your mind while at Desert Springs and it made a lot of sense to me.

Ive every reason to believe it will improve that aspect of my game in 2007 and ensure I realise my ambitions for the coming year.

Whichever way it goes, youll get the inside line of my year right here!
