PLAYERS TO CONSIDER
Pool A
Ernie Els (EUR)
THE three-time Major winner is currently in a rich vein of form and, had it not been for a costly double bogey at the 10th yesterday, the South African would have been in contention to add a third US Open title to his trophy cabinet. Expect him to continue his form into this week. If he does so, he will be very dangerous.
Pool B
Alvaro Quiros (EUR)
THE likeable Spaniard can never be discounted whenever he plays. He is one of the biggest hitters in world golf and is highly dangerous when he keeps straight off the tee. He has won already this year and is fancied to contend this week.
Pool C
Matt Kuchar (PGA)
MATT Kuchar is not exactly a household name, but he is one of the most consistent performers on tour and is well in form, having notched a top 10 last week at Pebble Beach. He may not deliver a winning performance come Sunday but expect a handy influx of points nonetheless.
Pool D
Justin Rose (PGA)
IN his first appearance since winning the Memorial at the start of the month, Rose will be looking to cement his place on Monty's Ryder Cup team with another strong performance this week. The field he faces is arguably stronger than the one he defeated at Muirfield Village, but he is hitting the ball well and should be in the mix come Sunday.
Pool E
Ricky Barnes (PGA)
FRESH off the back of a top 30 finish at the US Open, Ricky Barnes is arguably the in-form player in Pool E. He is not the longest hitter but birdies with the best of them and could fare well this week. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
