Players to consider this week...
Pool A - Ross Fisher
At 7,675 yards length is going to be a big advantage so Fisher is worth a shout. The outsider to bank the Race to Dubai pot of gold needs to win this week, and hope that Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood don't finish second, and he will be well rested after his World Match Play triumph.
Pool B - Peter Hanson
The Swede must be one of the most underrated players in world golf. Again this season he has been ultra consistent and, although his season has lacked a win, he is now more than comfortable on the big stage. In his last five tournaments he is 60 under par so form not a concern.
Pool C - Retief Goosen
By his own high standards the South African has not enjoyed the best of seasons but the second half of this term he has been pocketing top 10 after top 10. Should have won in Portugal recently when he fell away on the Sunday but he is quickly approaching something like his best and is a class act.
Pool D - Justin Rose
Rose is another to have endured a fairly ordinary year but is a quality performer and almost won in the States at the weekend when Stephen Ames reeled him in. Like Goosen his form has picked up of late and he will be desperate to end the year on a high.
Pool E - Anthony Wall
Steady performer who rarely gets many headlines but, also, rarely has a shocking week. If you are looking for someone who could easily get you a top-25 finish then Wall is worth a shout and he is capable of going very low. In his last four starts he has finished inside the top 15 every week so should be full of confidence.
