Pool A - Tiger Woods
This may not be the most inspiring piece of advice but with an
astonishing 16 individual WGC titles already to his name and four wins
and two seconds in his last nine starts, not to mention a perfect
record in the Presidents Cup, why would you not have him in your side?
Pool B - Sergio Garcia
Again a proverbial 'no brainer'. The Spaniard is the defending champion
after coming through a play-off against Oliver Wilson and his form has
picked up nicely as the season has progressed. Finished 4th in his last
strokeplay start in Spain and will be keen to rocket up the Race to
Dubai standings.
Pool C - Robert Allenby
Squeezes in to the tournament courtesy of his Order of Merit finish on
the Australasian Tour and is in cracking form. The Australian was 6th
in Castellon and then took third in the World Match Play after holing
in one and then eagling the last to take Angel Cabrera into extra
holes.
Pool D - Alexander Noren
A season that was hampered by wrist and knee injuries was sparked into
life with his maiden European Tour win in Switzerland and, since that
triumph in September, he has added two more top-six efforts. Capable of
going very low as demonstrated by his 62 on the Sunday in Portugal.
Pool E - Matt Kuchar
A lateish entry after his victory in the Turning Stone Resort
Championship in October which came seven years after his first win at
the Honda Classic. Kuchar is one of the men in form on the PGA Tour
with four straight top-15 finishes and should be worth considering this
week.
