The Dorset Golf Resort

It is rare to find anywhere with views this special but the real glory of Isle of Purbeck is that they come on all four sides, whether looking to the Isle of Wight, across Poole harbour or towards the Purbeck Hills. This Harry Colt designed 6,295 yard heathland course is set in a nature reserve, a par of 70 making it more testing than its modest yardage suggests. The championship course at Purbeck is one that all golfers should savour, as not only are the views stunning but the course is quite spectacular to play and provides a stern challenge for even the most accomplished golfer.

Despite not being a challenge in terms of length, the unforgiving nature of the layout and general contours of the course mean that anything other than excellent course management and straight accurate hitting will be punished.

And with green fees starting from just £25, Purbeck provides extremely affordable championship golf.

The Club dates back to 1892, and among the past owners, who were responsible for the extension to 27 holes, were Enid Blyton, the legendary writer of childrens books, and her husband, Dr Darrell-Waters.

The extension to the venue means that Purbeck also boasts a nine hole course which is suited to the beginner or high handicap golfer. The nine hole course also serves as an ideal practice point for those wishing to take on the championship course.

Purbeck is also an ideal spot for visiting societies or travelling golfers. Located less than a mile away from the channel and sat in an enviable spot on England's south coast in close proximity to Swanage, Weymouth and Poole, the course is an extremely popular location for guests.
