Forfar Golf Club

Forfar Golf Club became a unique golfing challenge in 1871, when Old Tom Morris used the land’s natural undulations to reveal a course of movement, angles, and lies that no modern architect could recreate. This was the world’s first 18-hole course by design, giving it real historical significance in the game. 

Set on land ploughed by monks as far back as the 12th century, Forfar Golf Course stands as the best example of rig and furrow architecture anywhere in the world. Famed for its gravity-defying lies and angles, Forfar is a true test for golfers as well as a walk through time.

Our clubhouse is open to all seven days a week, or choose to visit Rig & Furrow, our restaurant set inside the clubhouse, serving clubhouse classics and the best Sunday Roast you can find locally.
