TOP DRILLS: Use this Steady Head tip

How to stop having a nervous peak

Steady before go

A very common mistake is moving your head while putting. Holing putts is of course vital – but a nervous peak happens far too often and this hampers accuracy. To putt well, you have to keep your head steady throughout the stroke. The ‘Steady Head Drill’ teaches you that.

Eyes on the marker

Place a 10p piece or a ball marker just behind the ball; assume your normal putting stance, with your eyes fixed directly over the ball. Keep looking at the marker after you have made contact and count to three. Then look up to see where the ball went. Some teachers recommend staring at the marker until you hear the ball fall in the cup.
