Master long putts

How to improve your feel from distance

Tip from the tour

I use this tip when I practise on tour and it really helps me fine-tune my touch. It also keeps practice both interesting and pressurised.

The box drill

Create a box behind the hole using seven tees. Aim for around three feet square. Then, line up 10 balls at three feet intervals away from the hole.
Proceed to hit the first putt. If you hole it, or the ball finishes in the box of tees, move on to the next ball at six feet away.
Keep going until you miss both the hole and the box, at which point you must start again from three feet away. This drill helps keep you interested and is a great way of improving your long putting.
