Concentrate your mind

How best to find more fairways

Improve your focus

Many amateurs arrive on a tee with a driver in hand and simply hit in a general direction, with no focus or target. Here’s a good way to concentrate the mind and improve your accuracy off the tee.

Pick a point

Stand behind the ball and, with your club outstretched down the intended target line, pick out an object in the distance. In this instance, the church spire is a great line for me.

Line yourself up

Pick a spot between the target and the ball and line up to that. Keep looking at the target to make sure you can feel your body is square to the it.

Commit

Aim to start the ball on the target and commit to the swing. Although out of reach, trying to hit the target you picked out will encourage you to make a positive swing and will give you more chance of finding the short stuff.
