How to stop the spin taking over

Don't zip it

While most amateurs would give anything to see their wedges screw back, too much spin can make it very difficult for the better player to finish close to the pin. To start with position the ball towards the back of the stance.

Take one more

You should be looking to play one extra club to encourage a softer swing which should see the ball take off on a flatter trajectory.

Firm those wrists

Check the finishing position here – this is as far as the swing needs to go, note how the wrists have held firm – and, after a bit of practice, you should start reaping the benefits of this controlled pitch shot.
