The clubs Koepka used to win the PGA ChampionshipAugust 12, 2018
Were there any changes to the clubs that won the US Open a couple of months ago? Equipment editor James Savage takes a look
Brooks Koepka relied on the exact same clubs which saw him land back-to-back US Opens in June.
Well, not exactly as Koepka cracked the face of his TaylorMade M3 driver at the start of the week so was forced to put a brand new one into play.
Koepka is actually a free agent when it comes to his golf clubs so has a free run at all the equipment on the market.
Interestingly he Kopeka both weights back to make the driver as forgiving as possible.
His fairway wood is the exact same model he used for both of his US Open wins – the low-spinning TaylorMade M2 Tour.
There’s still the one Nike club in the bag which is a powerful Vapor Fly Pro driving iron.
I actually asked Kopeka about this club at The Open at Royal Birkdale last year and he said he fell in love with it as soon as he hit it.
Then he moves into the Mizuno JPX900 Tour irons which were actually created with Koepka in mind.
Koepka – who was a Titleist staff player before moving to Nike – plays the new Vokey SM7 wedges with the exception of an SM4 lob wedge.
And the best club for Koepka in all of his three major wins? There’s no doubt it was his Scotty Cameron Newport 2.
He plays the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball.
