Thunderstorms played havoc on the opening day of the 2016 US Open at Oakmont, meaning half of the field are yet to start their first rounds. In what was an extremely frustrating day for players and spectators alike, there was still a number of great moments throughout the day. Here are a selection of the best highlights from Oakmont.

Here’s a recap of the main highlights from a rain-delayed first round at Oakmont…

What’s the best way to start your round? Just ask Shane Lowry. He managed to do this on his first hole…

Putt of the day? I don’t think anyone can argue with this from Bubba…

Best spot to hide from the bad weather? These spectators certainly look very cosy…

Worst decision of the day? Two off the lead, what was Bryson DeChambeau thinking of here…

Shot of the day? Matt Fitzpatrick probably thought he had that in the bag after this brilliant bunker shot..

But then Lee Westwood took the crown for shot of the day with this beauty…

Round of the day? Andrew Landry would not have been anyones pick to be top of the leaderboard. But with shots like this, it’s no wonder he is up there…

Rickie Fowler started like a house on fire at the first hole.. What an approach.

And finally..who was sporting the worst pair of pants? No surprises here..
