He’s won 82 PGA Tour titles, including 15 majors, and spent a never-to-be-beaten 683 weeks as World No 1. But despite all his heroics and mind-blowing achievements, there’s one lifelong goal Tiger Woods is yet to accomplish.
Hosting the TGR Junior Invitational as the golf world awaits his return, Woods opened the floor to a Q&A from a group of youngsters hoping to kickstart their own journey to the top.
Quizzed with that age-old question as to what his favourite golf course is, Woods dare think as he unsurprisingly revealed it was the Old Course. But there was a slight twist.
Despite having won two Claret Jugs at St Andrews, it seems his work at the iconic track is by no means done. Still hungry for more, Woods then revealed the one lifeline goal he’s desperate to complete at the Home of Golf…
“The neat thing about [St Andrews] that people don’t realise, the golf course was designed to play backwards.” He said. “There’s seven double greens, so you can play from 1 to 17, 2 to 16, 3 to 15. They do that one time a year, and I’ve never gotten a chance to do that, so that’s one of my goals.”
Woods isn’t wrong in that the Old Course is played backwards by a lucky few once a year. But with all things considered, we’re sure the 15-time-major champ won’t struggle snagging an invite in the not too distant future.
