Ludicrous! Watch McIlroy launch ball into the water after bizarre prank
Rory McIlroy was left fuming after an unusual fan incident at the BMW Championship
Just when we thought we’d seen it all in this sport, this happens.
After months of fighting the PGA Tour’s corner in golf’s ongoing civil war, Rory McIlroy was left battling a new nemesis at the BMW Championship when a remote control golf ball caused havoc with the four-time major champ – ending with one angry Northern Irishman, and one soggy gadget!
Yes, you read that correctly.
The scene of this bizarre episode took place on the 15th at Wilmington, when McIlroy – playing with Scott Stallings – noticed a third ball with a mind of its own enter the green. Still confused? We’ll let you see for yourself what transpired…
Hilarious? Bizarre? Immature? Probably a bit of all three, as a clearly unamused McIlroy took matters into his own hands and launched the prankster’s remote control ball into the water – producing a chorus of cheers, and boos, from the patrons watching on.
McIlroy then missed the birdie putt, the fan was escorted out by security, and we were all given a mind-boggling moment to watch on repeat all weekend.
